Portrait of the Toddler Years. With Pesto.
I'd like to think my almost two year-old daughter could come up with a few original, out-of-the-box ideas as far as acting out. We value creativity around here and I wouldn't mind so much if she opted to:
-fingerpaint her crib slats with the anarchy ABut nope. We're stuck with the old bowl of spaghetti on the head trick.
-put daddy's wrist in water while he sleeps
-hold her breath until we let her watch news hour with Jim Lehrer
-convert to Buddhism
-sneak out at night to get a tattoo
-slip a duck into her stroller

Are you sure it wasn't Chuck (Dooce's Chuck) who decorated her head?
This is the gateway drug to much worse....
Send her to the convent right now.
Mmmm ... spaghetti hair. One of my favorites to clean up.
Looks like pesto noodles. :)
Yay Thalia! Chalk one up for you!
Mmmm. Pesto. At least it doesn't stain as badly as marinara.
With a cute face like that at least she won't have to learn how to tie a cheery stem into a knot in her mouth for entertainment ... just get some cooked pasta and VOILA! The epitomy of cuteness! :)
M&M
God, she's adorable! Even with the green noodle on her head!
Nothing says, "I'm having a GOOD time," like wearing your food on your head. My Ava had pasta on her feet yesterday. Interesting, don't ask. By the way, LOVE your blog!
Maybe it's not original, but it's so dam cute. Especially because I didn't have to clean it up.
Taking a break from sushi?
If you want to make it really creative, just say it's a Pro-Carbs statement. Down with diets! Eat carbs! Better yet, smear them into your hair and absorb their goodness that way!
you know, i was just doing that exact same thing with my dinner last night. :)
Ladies, it's cry for a hot oil treatment! Bet her hair was bouncy, full, and shiny the next day!
What a rebel! My mom once got so mad at my sister for gagging on all her food at dinner, she mushed mashed potatoes in her hair. I will never forget the look on hew face. :)
But she looks so purdy with pesquetti in her hair!
I have to agree with clickmom - think of how soft the pesto treatment made her hair! Maybe she's just looking for a spa day out?
How could you have resisted taking a bite out of her after that? She looks so yummy :-) And cute as always.
Mmmm... Baby con pesto. Yummy. Did you have that delivered?
Dude, in our house, if any toddler doesn't finish her dinner, she gets it thrown on her. You know. The old "eat it or wear it" rule.
Hey, I just did a couple of posts about fun with spaghetti in my summer boredom buster series...I guess I forgot to add this one to the list :)
too cute.
now i'm hungry.
My daughter loves spaghetti and she typically begs - BEGS! - for more parmesan cheese - not on her spaghetti but on the side and then she throws it all on the floor. It's very predictible, but it's easier to give her the cheese and then clean the floor than it is to deal with meltdown if we withhold it. Plus, even when she's making a mess, she's cute!
God. You still got it. I'm telling ya. That baby must be sucking something else out of you because you still got your funny.
I love her eyes. SO dang cute.
ONE noodle!?!? Get her over here---we'll show her how it's done---she's gotta get that entire bowl on her head to really make a head spin!
BTW, she is so adorable! Those eyes!
(and don't wish for the fingerpainting on the crib slats---you know what they use for fingerpaint then, don't you??)
Good thing there wasn't red sauce with that noodle! What is it about noodles and spaghetti sauce that makes kids want to put it in their hair?
God I want to eat that kid. (!)
Wow, cool. Wonderbaby has exactly the same hat. Sometimes she accessorizes hers with tofu, but still. Same.
Too cute! Got any garlic bread to go with?
Who hasn't experimented with a little spaghetti now and then, am I right?
So does she get that from om or dad?
I could see this as the cover for CHILD magazine!!!!\
CARBS AT THEIR BEST
Oh, super cute!
How about painting the crib with poop? That's always a classic. (so not fun)
You know, my husband does that trick. And this whole time I thought it was brilliant.
I think I started blogging shortly after you did, and yours was a blog I read a lot early on because Thalia and Rooster are so close in age. So I've seen her grow here at your site and what I really want to say is this:
OHMYGODSHEISSODELICIOUSLYCUTE!!!!!!
Cute! Cute! Cute!
What is it with toddlers and spaghetti? My son loves playing with it too!
